What is Vela?

Vela Exchange is a decentralized perpetual exchange built on the Arbitrum network, designed to provide a high-performance trading experience that bridges the gap between centralized and decentralized platforms. Its mission is to offer traders a professional-grade 'home base' for perpetuals, spot trading, and synthetic assets without sacrificing self-custody or transparency.

How Does Vela Work?

Vela operates as a non-custodial platform where users trade against a multi-asset liquidity pool known as VLP. It utilizes an off-chain order matching engine combined with on-chain settlement to ensure high-speed execution and low slippage. The protocol relies on Chainlink oracles for accurate asset pricing and allows users to manage collateral primarily via USDC.

What Makes Vela Unique?

Vela stands out by offering up to 250x leverage on a diverse range of assets, including cryptocurrencies, Forex, and metals. It features 'One-Click Trading' (1CT) for a CEX-like user experience, on-chart order placement, and a dual-token rewards system (VELA and VLP) that distributes a significant portion of protocol revenue back to its ecosystem participants.

Who Are the Founders of Vela?

Vela Exchange was co-founded by Travis Skweres and Dan Peng. Travis Skweres is a seasoned entrepreneur and crypto veteran who previously founded Portal, while Dan Peng brings a strong background in technical product management and engineering. The team is supported by advisors from prominent firms like BlackRock and Balancer.
