What is Ekiden?

Ekiden is a high-performance, institutional-grade decentralized derivatives trading platform. Launched in 2025 and primarily based in Lisbon, it is designed to bridge the gap between traditional finance and decentralized finance (DeFi) by providing professional traders, market makers, and algorithmic desks with the speed and reliability they require. Its mission is to make on-chain derivatives a truly usable tool for serious market participants without compromising on self-custody or transparency.

How Does Ekiden Work?

The platform utilizes a hybrid architecture that combines an off-chain Central Limit Order Book (CLOB) for near-instant order matching (latencies of 5–15ms) with deferred on-chain settlement. Built on the Aptos blockchain, it leverages a rollup-like design where orders are compressed into Merkle proofs and batched before being posted to the chain. This separation of concerns allows for high-frequency execution while ensuring that all trades are auditable and verifiably settled on-chain.

What Makes Ekiden Unique?

Unlike general-purpose retail DEXs, Ekiden focuses specifically on the structurally underserved professional segment of the market. It offers native integrations for trading bots, plug-and-play APIs, and compatibility with FIX and CCXT protocols, which are standard in traditional finance. Its focus on 'Smart Privacy' and high execution quality—drawing inspiration from the early Serum ecosystem—sets it apart as an HFT-capable terminal for institutional DeFi.

Who Are the Founders of Ekiden?

Ekiden was founded by Vitali Dervoed, who serves as the CEO. Dervoed has an extensive background in capital markets and crypto infrastructure, having held prominent roles at Neon EVM, RockawayX, and Mango Markets. His experience in both traditional finance and complex on-chain systems has shaped the project's focus on execution quality, risk management, and institutional-grade reliability.
