What is Usdp?

Pax Dollar (USDP) is a regulated, fiat-backed stablecoin issued by Paxos Trust Company. Pegged 1:1 to the U.S. Dollar, its primary mission is to modernize the financial system by mobilizing assets at the speed of the internet while providing a stable, digital alternative to volatile cryptocurrencies.

How Does Usdp Work?

USDP operates as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain. It is created when users deposit U.S. Dollars with Paxos; in turn, Paxos mints an equivalent amount of USDP. Conversely, when USDP is redeemed for fiat, the tokens are burned. This ensures the supply is always collateralized 1:1 by cash and U.S. Treasury bills held in regulated reserve accounts.

What Makes Usdp Unique?

USDP stands out due to its high level of regulatory oversight, being issued by a trust company chartered by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). It was one of the first stablecoins to offer monthly public attestations of its reserves by top-tier auditing firms (like Withum), providing institutional-grade transparency and security for DeFi, remittances, and commerce.

Who Are the Founders of Usdp?

Usdp was launched by Charles Cascarilla and Rich Teo, the founders of Paxos. Charles Cascarilla (CEO) has a background in finance from the University of Notre Dame and previously co-founded Liberty City Ventures. Rich Teo, a graduate of the University of Michigan, brought expertise as a principal analyst to help establish Paxos as a leader in regulated blockchain infrastructure.
